EXODUS

Exodus is called the Book of Redemption.  God heard the groaning of the children of Israel and He remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and He delivered them from bondage with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm.  Exodus can be divided into two halves: 1) Chapters 1-18 REDEMPTION, 2) Chapters 19-40 REVELATION.  Exodus is filled with pictures of Christ and the Christian life.  God wants to redeem us and reveal Himself to us.

Exodus 9-10 "Battle of the gods Part 2"  Next 5 Plagues:  Judgment on the gods of Egypt
Exodus 11-12 "Passover"  10th Plague: Death of Firstborn.  Passover -- Israel redeemed by the blood of a lamb.  Incredible pictures of Christ.
Exodus 12 Part 2 "God's Patience means salvation"   The Lamb throughout the Bible.  Teach your children well.  What are you using your money to do?  Where God guides God provides.  The dangers of the mixed multitude.  God's patience means salvation.
Exodus 13-14 "Stand Still and See the Salvation of the Lord"  Consecrate yourself to God. God guides His people. Perils of Leadership. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Red Sea or Reed Sea?
Exodus 15 "Worship"  This first song recorded in the Bible is a pattern for true worship.  In our study of the subject of Worship we look at four things:       1) The Object of Worship, 2) The Place of Worship, 3) The Preparation for Worship, and 4) The Act of Worship.
Exodus 15:22-17:7 "Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart"   They're called the children of Israel for good reason!  We see them whining and crying like little children throughout their desert journeys.  If we are going to be great - full people we've got to be grateful people, and we'll shine like stars in the midst of a world of complainers.
Exodus 17:8-16 "Winning the War with Sin"  Amalek is a picture of our sin nature.  1. A Christian will have war with the sin nature as long as he/she live.  2. God will not compromise with or try to improve our sin nature.  3. God will one day utterly destroy our sin nature.
Exodus 18 "The Moses Model"  The "Church in the Wilderness" (Acts 7:38) -- a "church" of 2-3 Million people -- would have had lots of problems.  It needed organisation.  Jethro gives Moses some godly advice to delegate authority and establish a "Church Government" for the "Church in the Wilderness".  Outline: 1. The Need for Church Government,  2. The Moses Model,  3. The Blessings of Godly Church Government.
Exodus 19 "God's Special Treasure"  God loves His people Israel and called them to be His own special treasure above all peoples.  It's important to see ourselves the way God sees us.  Though we deserve death and hell, God loves us, cherishes us, and searches for us.  God is holy, but we can approach Him in Jesus Christ.  When we receive Christ by faith, He grants to us everlasting life as a free gift and gives us new hearts to love and obey Him.
Exodus 20:1-11 "Love God"  The first four of the Ten Commandments deal with mans' relationship with God.  This teaching answers the questions 1) What is the purpose of the Law?  2) What relationship do Christians have with the Law now?  3) On what should we base our relationship with God -- our works or God's grace?
Exodus 20:12-17 "Love your neighbour" The last six of Ten Commandments deal with mans' relationship with each other.  Jesus summed these up with one statement: "Love your neighbour as yourself."  How do we show our love for God?  Answer: By showing love to one another in very practical ways.
Exodus 20:1-17  "The 10 Commandments and God's Amazing Grace"  The Law of God is like a mirror which reveals our spiritual condition.  Romans 6:23 says "The wages of sin is death".  We've broken God's Law, every one of us, and the penalty for that is physical and spiritual death.  The Law of God shows us that we have nothing to offer God except a broken and humble heart.  We bring nothing to the bargaining table.  We can only fall down at the feet of Jesus and beg for mercy.  But in spite of that, God offers us something amazing.  Romans 6:23 says, "But the [free] gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."  God's grace has nothing to do with our good works or religious achievements.  It is solely based on what Jesus Christ has done for us.  In this study we look at three aspects of God's grace toward us: 1) Saving Grace, 2) Living Grace, and 3) Dying Grace.  May you rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ today!
Exodus 20:1-17  "Using the 10 Commandments in Evangelism"  1 Timothy 1:9 says that the Law was made for sinners.  It is a mirror to the soul which reveals our sin and shows us our need for a Saviour.  In this teaching, we will see 1) How to memorise the 10 Commandments, 2) Why God gave the 10 Commandments, and 3) How to use the 10 Commandments in evangelism.
