MARK

Mark, the 2nd book of the New Testament, is a fast-paced account of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.  Mark presents Jesus Christ as the Servant of God.  The Key Verse of the gospel is Mark 10:45 "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many."  The human author, John Mark, was a close associate of Peter (1 Peter 5:13) and accompanied his cousin Barnabas and the Apostle Paul on their first missionary journey but left them to return to Jerusalem (Acts 13:13), home of his mother Mary (Acts 12:12).  Date: about 55 A.D.
